Lifeguard Bathing Suit

To start, you will need to find a lifeguard bathing suit. You can usually find these at your local swim store or online. If you are on an extremely tight budget, start by looking in your clothes drawers for a red or blue bathing suit or shorts. Two pieces of white tape in the form of a "cross" makes for the perfect free option.

Men's Lifeguard Trunks

If you opt for a more professional look we recommend the Adoretex Men's Lifeguard Quick Dry Swimsuit for men. This lifeguard bathing suit comes in either red or blue, is comfortably made with 100% nylon and sports a slim-fit style that lays slightly above the knee.

Women's Lifeguard Bathing Suit

For women, We are sticking with Adoretex, as in our experience they offer a high quality, comfortable bathing suit at reasonable prices. The Adoretex Women's Lifeguarduard Fit-Back One Piece Swimsuit will meet your needs for fitting the part as a lifeguard perfectly. The Lycra, Spandex, Nylon combination fabric will keep you comfortable all party long. This piece is perfect for those going for that sexy lifeguard look. Here's lookin at you Pam Anderson.

Women's Lifeguard Shorts

For women looking to add a bottom to the costume, look no further than LIFEGUARD Officially Licensed Girls Hi-Cut Shorts. These shorts are equipped with the official lifeguard logo. They will definitely help you look the part!

Lifeguard T-Shirt or Tank Top

Once you have found the perfect bathing suit, it's time to move on to the next item on the list: a lifeguard t-shirt or tank top. A lifeguard t-shirt should be red with white lettering or white with red lettering.

Lifeguard Shirt

For Men or women, you can't go wrong with the LIFEGUARD Officially Licensed Short Sleeve Crew Neck T-Shirt. This unisex shirt is the perfectly compliment to your lifeguard bathing suit. It comes in red or white and is a comfortably fitting, 100% cotton, inexpensive option.

Lifeguard Tank Top

We can stick with the officially license LIFEGUARD theme with tank tops as well. The company really does the lifeguard ensemble the best and all of their apparel comes with the classic lifeguard logo. Check out the LIFEGUARD Officially Licensed Muscle Tank for an officially cool look this Halloween. If you going for the Zac Efron Baywatch look, this tank top is for you.

Flip Flops

Now that you have the basics of the costume, it's time to accessorize! The next item you'll need is a pair of flip flops. There's no need to get fancy with this item, especially when on a budget. If you can't find a pair lying around your place before October 31, check out Havaianas Flip Flops. These flip flops come in a variety of colors to fit your preference and at $10 per pair we are definitely keeping you under budget.

Lifeguard Whistle

Lifeguard Whistle

Next, you'll need a whistle. You can find these at most stores that sell sports equipment, or you can order them online. Amazon recommends the Hipat Red Emergency Whistle with Lanyard. This is certainly the least expensive option at $6.99 per whistle, but as professional lifeguards ourselves we would recommend the Fox 40 Sonik Blast. The Fox40 rescue whistles are widely accepted as the standard in lifeguarding excellence and this subtle difference can add an expert touch to your costume. For about $3 more than the Hipat, you are getting sleek-looking whistle that emits a distinct, loud pitch with minimal effort. Any real lifeguards within earshot of your crisp whistle blast will certainly come over to check out you elite hardware. Never thought of a whistle as a conversation starter, did you?

Other optional items you could add to your Lifeguard Halloween costume are:

Lifeguard Visor

Effective for day-time outdoor parties and trick-or-treating to keep the sun out of your eyes. We've heard wearing it backs AND upside down was very cool in the 90's if you're going for a retro lifeguard look. Keep it simple with the LIFEGUARD Officially Licensed Visor.

Hip Pack

To complete the ensemble, add a lifeguard hip pack to your lifeguard Halloween costume. This red hip pack is used by lifeguards to store their lifesaving equipment...on Halloween you'll get to stash lifesavers and candy bars (or adult beverages!) This item really is a perfect addition considering your lack of pocket space in a lifeguard outfit. The Ever Ready First Aid Fanny Pack is an excellent cheap option you should consider.

Zinc Oxide

Once you have all of the items on this list, it's time to put the costume together! Put on the finishing touches by dabbing some sunscreen or zinc oxide on your nose to complete the perfect lifeguard Halloween costume. Harry Potter will have nothing on your look!
