Course Description
The American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Course on Long Island is designed for individuals who want to become certified swim instructors. Upon successful completion, participants will receive a Water Safety Instructor certification, valid for 2 years.

Course Pre-requisites:
Participants must be at least 16 years old by the last day of the class. The following pre-requisite skills will be evaluated on the first day of the course:

Swim the following strokes, demonstrating proficiency and using proper techniques:

25 yards of front crawl
-
25 yards of back crawl
-
25 yards of breaststroke
-
25 yards of elementary backstroke
-
25 yards of sidestroke
-
15 yards of butterfly
-
-
Maintain position on back for 1 minute in deep water (floating or sculling).

Tread water for 1 minute.
